Charge Nurse, PRN

Specific Responsibilities

  • Conducts daily rounds to be aware of resident s condition and environment and implements physician s orders and plan of care.

  • Ensures nursing assistants are implementing plans of care as required in accordance with community s policies/procedures.

  • Participates in care planning process and updates for change in condition.

  • Obtains physicians orders and on new residents and assessments in accordance with standards of practice.

  • Assures relevant documentation for all admissions every shift for at least 7 days to establish baseline data.

  • Collaborates with Nurse Manager/Supervisor in the assessment of the resident & notifies the resident, physician, & interested family member immediately of changes in resident status as well as incidents/accidents that may require physician interventions.

  • Assists physician on rounds during physician visits to transcribe & administer physicians orders according to standards and ensures that physicians and communities orders are implemented.

  • Promotes continuity of care between shifts and follows through regarding resident issues such as incident reports, physician orders, and changes in resident condition.

  • Follows established processes and procedures for effectively managing work-related injuries.

  • Contributes to the community s culture of wellness through words/actions. Strives to set a positive example of working towards their own healthy living goals & supports wellness efforts of fellow associates & residents.

  • Adheres to all policies, procedures & regulations.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

Licensure, Education, & Experience:

  • Holds active LPN or RN license & is in good standing in the state of Maryland s Board of Nursing.

  • Currently certified in CPR.

  • At least 2 years previous experience in a medical/surgical, rehab, or geriatric nursing preferred.

  • Knowledge of federal & state regulations for long-term care desired.

  • While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk & hear.

  • The employee is often required to work on feet throughout the work day, reach, bend, & move about the community.

  • Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift objects repeatedly.

  • Must assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations/drills.

  • Must be able to perform the essential physical task of lifting, turning, moving, positioning/transporting residents into & out of bed, chairs, bathtubs, wheelchairs, recliners, Geri chairs & lifts. Must be able to lift 50 pounds repeatedly during a work day.

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately quiet & indoors. Environment may be occasionally uncomfortable (too hot or cool in residents rooms/public areas).

  • Will work in all areas of the community.

  • Will perform several tasks at one time during working hours.

  • This position will be scheduled based on operational need. May be required to work beyond normal working hours & on weekends, holidays when necessary, on shifts other than the one for which hired, & subject to call-back during emergency conditions (e. g. severe weather, evacuation, post-disaster, etc.)

  • Associate may be subject to infectious waste, virus, disease, and/or infection from clients in the work environment.

    Training Requirements:

  • All COMAR & community mandatory trainings required at hire & as needed.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
