Job Responsibilities:

  • Guards, protects, keeps safe and rescues any person(s) in or around the pool and spa, deck or locker rooms.
  • Performs, if necessary, CPR or Lifesaving procedures to attempt to save from drowning or injury any person within the realm of influence.
  • Follows maintenance schedule adopted and assigned by pool operator.
  • Reports all accidents/incidents to Supervisor no matter now minor they may be. Fills out Incident Reports immediately following any incident.
  • Performs daily chemical checks, cleanings and maintenance of pool around the scheduled classes/swim times.
  • Performs day-to-day housekeeping functions and specific tasks in accordance with daily work assignments as assigned.
  • Discards waste/trash into proper containers and relines trash receptacle with plastic liner.
  • Ensures that work/assignment areas are clean and that equipment, tools, supplies, etc., are properly stored at all times, as well as before leaving such areas for breaks, meal times, and end of workday.
  • Performs cleaning procedures in accordance with established infection control procedures.
  • Follows procedures for infectious waste, as necessary.
  • Attends and participates in annual CPR/Lifesaving certifications, CEC classes for continual education, license renewal training, OSHA training, CDC in-service training programs for hazardous communication, TB management, and blood borne pathogens standard.
  • Follows established safety regulations, to include fire protection/prevention, smoking regulations, infection control, water safety, labels and MSDS, hand washing, etc.
  • Educates residents and guests regarding pool use rules and regulations; ensures that all guests appropriately comply with the same.
  • Adheres to Standards of Attendance.
  • Performs other duties, as assigned.


  • Minimum one (1) year of experience lifeguarding in a community or corporate setting.
  • Experience teaching swim lessons or aqua exercise during daily tasks.


  • Current Lifeguard certification.
  • Certified by American Red Cross in CPR/Lifesaving and First Aid.
  • Associates or Bachelor s Degree in related field or credit hours towards a degree a plus.
  • National Aquatics certifications, Swim instructor certifications a plus.


Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
